A downloadable RPG

Some history: I really enjoy introducing new players to the world of TTRPGs. One objection I've heard over the years is: But I'm not sure if I can learn all the rules? So I created this exercise, specifically because I had a new player on the fence. I wanted to demonstrate, in practice, that the core skill of "playing pretend" isn't all that hard.

Snakes in a Hotel is the second iteration of my warmup scenario. The first version was set in the middle of the woods, but I like the hotel better (more opportunities for improvised "equipment"). The constraints of "no character sheet" and "no dice" had a purpose. I needed something I could run over the phone, as pure voice and theater of the mind. And they simply didn't own any dice!

That player decided to stick around and is still playing RPGs today.

This game is $free! Of course, I do love hearing feedback—the current average duration is about 7 minutes after setting the initial scene.

If you decide to play Snakes in a Hotel, please let me know how it goes, and if you were able to keep the story going even longer than me!
